Three events were held in Vilnius on the initiative of, and with support from, Belarusian Christian Democracy to mark the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Belarusian independence.
They included a concert at the House of National Communities on 23 August; a meeting with Anatol Liabedzka, a member of parliament at the time of independence, and members of the Lithuanian Seimas at the office of Members of the European Parliament; and an evening at the Belarusian House on 25 August. Speakers at the evening included Siarhei Navumchyk, via video; Father Georgiy Roy, a leader of Orthodox Belarusians; Vadzimir Zarankin, chair of the Association of Belarusian Parents in Lithuania; Liudvika Kardzis, head of the Belarusian House in Vilnius; and members of the Minsk City Council from the 1990s.
Thank you to everyone who attended! We are preparing to return to Belarus victorious, to restore independence. As all the speakers testified, this could happen entirely unexpectedly.
